Celebrating 100 Joyful years of life !

Primrose’s Story

Primrose Adlin Fraser-Johnson of Belladrum Village, West Coast Berbice, Guyana is now Belladrum’s newest and possibly first centenarian.

Born on March 14th, 1921, she is the sixth of eleven children of Primrose and Charles McDonald Fraser. She is a true daughter of Belladrum’s soil, having spent all her life in the village. As a child, she attended St. Albans Primary school.

In 1950, Rose was married to Joseph Johnson (now deceased) and this union produced seven children –– Gladstone, Alfred, Eslyn, Patrick, Berkley, Darwin, Handel and step-children Wren and Beth. She is blessed to have twenty-six grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Primetime

Her longevity can be attributed to her hard work, faith in God and her peaceful and calm nature. She was always busy tending to the plants in her garden which produced her daily supply of fresh fruits and vegetables. Her faith in God is very strong and she spends much of her time reading her bible. Her favorite hymns are “What a friend we have in Jesus” and “Are you washed in the blood of Jesus?”

She loves to reminisce on her childhood and would tell the younger generation of her daily treks on foot as far as Litchfield to sell the cassava bread which her mother prepared. She also loves to dance, always to the amusement of her relatives.

The Golden Years

Her belief is “you must never leave her house empty-handed” and everyone who visited always left with fruits or vegetables from her garden.

Let us celebrate this precious life and show her some love!
